Because the best time to buy de-icing salt is spring and summer. In March-April, prices are 20-30% lower than November. By December, either stock is gone or prices skyrocket. Plan ahead.
De-icing salt consumption rates

Calculation formula
Need (kg) = Area (m²) × Rate (g/m²) × Number of treatments × 0.001
Example: HOA courtyard, 1200 m², 40 g/m² average, 60 treatments/season = 2,880 kg ≈ 3 tons.
When to order
- April-May — monitor prices. Minimum rates.
- June-August — main purchase. Full stock, negotiable prices.
- September — top-up. Prices rising.
- October — last chance before deficit.
Storage
Dry covered area, on pallets, away from metal (salt accelerates corrosion). Shelf life is unlimited — it's a mineral.
